See UOVO Founder Steven Guttman’s Favorite Picks from Artnet Galleries Right Now

Steven Guttman has a unique perspective on collecting.

As the founder of the fine-art storage and services
company UOVO, he knows how much care goes into
acquiring and preserving art. Taking care of a collection is no
easy task, and it requires a consideration of space, environmental
conditions, and the needs of a client.

Steven’s appreciation and deep passion for art is the reason he
started UOVO. The company recently launched the UOVO Prize with the
Brooklyn Museum, which gives an emerging artist living and working
in Brooklyn an unrestricted cash grant, a solo exhibition, and a
public installation on the facade of UOVO’s Brooklyn location.

And as a collector, Steven’s approach is refreshing. He is
interested in a broad range of styles and media.

“I’m equally captivated by the Minimalism of a Tadao Ando
building and the curves of a Gustave Serrurier-Bovy design,” he
says.

We had a chance to learn more about what’s currently shaping
Steven’s sensibility, from his go-to item to get him through long
plane rides, to the artworks from Artnet Galleries that have captured
his attention.

“I would say my personal style is modern, relaxed and eclectic,”
he says. “I like to mix things up and experiment with colors,
shapes, and layers. What inspires me most is great design—in
fashion, art, and architecture. I love the creative process of
design and the challenge of combining visual elements to
engage the senses.”
